5 Things to Expect on a Retreat Day

Are you considering a retreat day, but not sure what to expect?

Time - If you enjoy class and sometimes wish there was more time when class ends then a retreat day is for you. The full day allows for integrating your practice over a period of time. Often people will tell me they gained a significant insight from a retreat day. 

Community - Join others that also enjoy yoga, qigong, and meditation. Community or Sangha allows us to feel a part of something greater than ourselves. We can find support and encouragement spending time with others with aligning beliefs. 

Peace - We all live busy life’s. We are constantly surrounded by external stimulation. Removing ourselves from the hustle and bustle can create space for peaceful reflection. And a well-deserved rest for the mind and body. 

Rejuvenation - Stepping out of the usual routine in peaceful and beautiful surroundings with the reflective practices of yoga, qigong and meditation is rejuvenating. The cycle of keep going on the endless list of things to do is interrupted and allows time for rejuvenation of the body, mind and spirit.   

Choice - All activities at a retreat day are optional. You may choose to join the planned sessions or take time for reflection with a walk on the labyrinth or by finding a quiet solitary space in the house or on the beautiful grounds of the retreat centre

Retreat days are offered intentionally in the seasons of the Spring and Fall when nature reminds us to take time for both renewal and reflection. A retreat day is a time for reflection, contemplation and self-study to shift our present perspective and provide clarity moving forward. The retreat location, Loretto Maryholme Spirituality Centre, resonates an energy of calm and peace in beautiful natural surroundings on Lake Simcoe.
